I need to make at least 3 can can skirts, but I need them fast and cheap, and I have to make them myself. Anyone got any good ideas? Patterns? Fabric I should use?

Re: Can Can Skirts
Tue, January 15, 2008 - 8:41 PMThe ruffles are the most time-consuming part.. you can make no-gather ruffle:
1. Trace a large round plate, cut out the circle (do layers to save tracing & cutting time)
2. Fold the circle in half, and in half again
3. Figure out how deep you want the ruffle;measure & mark from the outer edge.
4. cut a smaller circle from the point end.. the arc should hit your mark.
5. open the large circle. you should have a donut shape
6. cut through one edge, straighten out your now ruffle shape.
You can sew multiples of these together to make the length you need, then pin & sew them to your skirt.
Don't ask for diagrams.. I don't have the time or patience to do the research right now.. mebbe you can find it online though.. also the technique is in lots of sewing books.. check out the library if you have time.. -

Tue, January 15, 2008 - 8:44 PMquite honestly, the least expensive & fastest way would be to rent them, considering the time it takes to build one.. -
